Pink Coral Chainring Bike Earrings
My hand painted mixed-media chain ring bicycle earrings are lightweight and one-of-a-kind! Beautiful shades of pink coral with hints of red. The marquis style ear wires are pretty and graceful. Great gift for the cyclist in your life!
These pieces may look like old, weathered metal with a fine, colorful patina…but it’s not metal. It’s PAPER. Yes, you read correctly…PAPER! I use a unique, multi-step process which yields one-of-a-kind wearable art pieces that look more like metal than paper.
You may be asking, “But how durable is it? Will I get more than just a handful of wears?” YES! I coat each piece with a protective glaze that makes it incredibly resilient. No, you can’t swim, shower, or take a hot yoga class in it, but a little moisture from getting caught in light rain or a little bit of sweat won’t hurt it.
Each piece starts as a humble piece of 100% recycled cardstock paper; usually no larger than about 4″ x 6″. I emboss each sheet and then paint them using a highly-blendable metallic paint. I cut out the small shapes I want to use for my jewelry and then I carefully adhere each piece onto 2mm high-density craft foam for stability. The final step is coating each piece with a protective glaze before I begin to assemble it into its final jewelry form.
Every purchase is ready for giving in a handmade gift envelope - one and done! The band on the envelope slides off so you can open it up and see what you bought before gifting.
